Wedgewood Pharmacy Delivery Policy
Wedgewood Pharmacy has offered an informal delivery service since opening in November of 2019. We started by occasionally dropping off medication to a patient on our way home from work and then moved on to hiring Gloria and Sara to deliver 3 times a week for us. Over time the service expanded to the six days a week we are open and to our current driver, Gary. Over the past 4 years, several pharmacies have
closed in our area (Berrys, Walgreens on Meridian and Mahoning, Marcs, and Rite Aid on Mahoning and Schenley) and this has greatly expanded our customer base including those requesting delivery. Accordingly, the time has come for us to formulate a formal
delivery policy to stay competitive in the market and remove any doubt or questions about the pharmacy delivery process.
How does the delivery process work?
You can request a delivery at any time (more on that in a bit) or you can be set up as a “delivery patient.” This means we will contact you to confirm delivery when you are due for medications or when we receive a new prescription from your provider. We will call you to confirm all same day deliveries Mon – Fri anytime from 10:30am up until 2pm (Sat 10:00am – noon). If you do not confirm your delivery, we will not deliver. When we call to confirm your delivery, we will also confirm your payment method.
What forms of payment do you accept for delivery?
We accept cash, check or credit card. We strongly encourage you to store a credit card with us to streamline the process for both you and us. This means we will securely keep a credit card on file and charge the card once you confirm delivery.
What time will I receive my delivery?
The driver leaves at approximately 2:15pm M-F and around noon on Saturdays. The total amount of deliveries for the day factors into when exactly you will receive yours, so we generally give a 2 hour range. Sometimes, a more specific time can be given during the confirmation phone call.
Do I need to be home for my delivery?
YES, unless you specify otherwise. We prefer people to receive their delivery in person, but we understand that may not always be possible. If you give us specific instructions (such as leave it in my mailbox or inside the storm door, etc) we will do our best to meet that request, however, keep in mind you are agreeing not to hold us responsible should something happen and you not receive the delivery. Also, if you confirm your delivery and are not home to receive the delivery and you did not give us instructions to leave at that location, the driver will bring it back to the pharmacy and you will be assessed a $5.00 charge.
What time does my order need to be made to receive same day delivery?
1 pm M-F and by 11 am for Saturday delivery. Any orders made after this time will be delivered the next day. Special arrangements may be made to receive the same delivery after this cutoff time, but are subject to a fee and the driver’s availability.
What can be delivered?
Anything in the pharmacy! Any prescription medications, OTCs, anything sold in the store is available, just ask!
Can I tip the driver?
Absolutely, in fact, we encourage it!
Is there a charge for delivery?
It depends on two things: what you are receiving and where we are delivering to. We offer free delivery if you are located within 2.5 miles of the pharmacy (4350 New Rd Austintown). If you are located 2.5 – 3 miles, there is a $5.00 charge, if you are located 3 – 5 miles there is a $7.00 charge, and anything over 5 miles is $10.00 or we can ship to you using USPS.
Is there a charge for delivery?
There is no minimum dollar amount, however, yes…. you need to have at least one prescription medication in your order. Also, in order to help manage our costs and time preparing for deliveries, starting April 1st, 2024, we will offer 1 free delivery per week (unless you are outside the free delivery mileage or your order does not include prescription medication) and any subsequent deliveries that week will be subject to an “additional delivery” $5.00 fee. An exception to this would be if your prescriber sends in a new medication after you have already received your delivery for the week, you will NOT be charged the “additional delivery” fee. Last, if you haven’t done it already, we now have an app that you can download. Once you register on the app, you can order refills and manage your medications in your profile.
